I've compiled a lengthy list of excellent books that cover a variety of areas for the childbearing years. Before purchasing these books, I'd recommend checking with your local library to see if they have a copy that you can borrow for free (unless you want a hard copy for yourself)!

Shelter Information (Local to Dayton, OH):
Dayton YWCA – (937) 461-5550
141 W Third St., Dayton, OH 45402
A really unique part of the local YWCA is that there are separate rooms. So, people with children have beds to sleep on in their own room, and their children also have beds or cribs and toys. The YWCA has a clothing closet available for use, and a food pantry. They offer chauffeuring services to and from appointments, meals, and they help people find jobs and housing, and much more.
Artemis Domestic Violence Center – 937-461-HELP (4357)
310 West Monument Ave., Dayton, OH 45402
This is a domestic violence rehabilitation center. They offer legal assistance and guidance. They also have therapy programs available for those that witnessed or experienced abuse. Additionally, there are domestic violence support groups for people to share their stories.
St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Women and Families - 937-222-5555
124 West Apple St., Dayton, OH 45402
This shelter is a large, open shelter. They also offer a lot of other services like a food pantry, help with getting vehicles, housing assistance, and setting them up for independence. While they do operate 24/7 and offer meals and shelter, there isn’t much privacy until people are able to find housing. Please keep in mind that this is a co-ed shelter.
