Peace, Calm, and Harmony
Peace, Calm, and Harmony Midwifery
Hey there - I'm so happy that you're here!
You have taken the next step in your pregnancy journey:
choosing your birth team!
My name is Ciara Lee, and it would be an honor and a privilege to serve you. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) that serves within approximately an hour of the Dayton, OH area. Care with me includes an initial consultation to go over any questions that you have about homebirth and the way I practice midwifery. Upon hire, we will have monthly prenatal visits, and then begin to see each other every 1-2 weeks toward the end of your pregnancy. These visits usually last an hour to an hour and a half in your home, and include full-spectrum maternity care to ensure that you and your sweet baby are thriving and healthy.
During labor, I will arrive to help support you during your labor, and with the birth of your newest addition. I also enjoy bringing forth your partner, doula, or other support people, so that their role aligns in ways that will help you the most.
Birth is sacred, and you deserve respectful care.
I am a strong believer that the female anatomy is divinely designed to work perfectly when it is left unbothered, in the majority of situations. Your body and your baby are smart. Many people trust their body to sustain a pregnancy, but begin to have doubts about a physiologic birth toward the end. Much of this is due to societal pressure. I am here to help ease those doubts, be a wealth of information, and encourage you to chase after the birth of your dreams. YOU CAN DO IT.
Once everyone is settled in bed, and you've had at least an hour to snuggle with your baby, I complete a head to toe newborn exam, and then I continue to provide quality care through your postpartum recovery period to help ensure that your transition into mothering this baby is a supported experience, including referrals to a plethora of community resources I have that can help with any other needs you might have.
If you're considering a homebirth, I'd love to chat with you and see if we are a good fit. If you are interested, please visit my Contact Info page, and complete the intake form to get ahold of me for more information!
Philosophy of Care
I believe that hiring a skilled Midwife will help families receive well-rounded prenatal care to prepare them for the birth of their baby, providing them with personalized education along the way. It is my belief that babies know how to be born, but that variations of normal sometimes happen and that a well-trained Midwife can result in better maternal and neonatal outcomes. I believe in families asking questions, and look forward to helping them through shared decision making. I believe in quality nutrition and hydration, evidence informed practice, and trauma informed care.
I stand by the belief that Midwives can change their communities one birth at a time, thereby lessening the atrocious mortality and morbidity rates that birthing people and their babies face in the United States today. I believe in birthing people and their babies working together as a dyad... during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I believe that a positive and supported birth and postpartum experience can change future generations to come.
Statement of Ethics
Midwifery care will be based on the Midwifery Model of Care. ALL clients will be treated with respect, dignity, and equity, regardless of their race/ethnicity, gender identification, religious beliefs, and/or socioeconomic status. The midwife will provide safe care, and ensure client confidentiality, except in situations that are required to be reported by law. Evidence-based education will be provided to the client, so they can work with the midwife to utilize shared decision making that respects the client’s personal autonomy. The midwife will not intentionally cause harm, and will work to correct any unintentionally injustices. The midwife will also hold personal boundaries in place to ensure they, too, are protected from harm and that their professional autonomy is intact.
